What is cancer?

Cancer called about 100 different diseases. Cancer occurs when cells begin to behave abnormally and begin to multiply uncontrollably. All organs of the body composed of cells, the cells multiply dalydamosis only when necessary. This process supports the objectives of the good condition of our body. When cells begin to proliferate, even when it does not need to produce excess tissue mass. This excess tissue, called a tumor, can be benign or malignant.

Benign tumors are not cancer. They can be removed and usually do not recur more. Benign tumor cells spread to other parts of the body. These tumors are usually not life-threatening.

Malignant tumors - cancer is a disease. Cancer cells escape and damage nearby tissues and organs. They can escape from a malignant tumor and enter the bloodstream or lymphatic system. In this way, tumor cells from the primary tumor blood vessels and lymphatics spread to other organs. Away from the primary tumor has expanded tumors are called metastases.

Tumors are called according to cell type or organ in which they start. When cancer spreads, the new tumor appeared composed of the same abnormal cells and is called the same way as the original tumor. For example, if lung cancer metastasizes to the liver, the cancer cells in the liver are lung cancer cells. The disease is called metastatic lung cancer (not liver cancer).
