Chemotherapy - saving lives, changing lives

Family as soon as there is a crisis to learn that the child is suffering from cancer. After the initial shock aware of this diagnosis will soon spill emotional wave. Family members suffer from stress, depression and severe anxiety. However, cancer - is a complex disease. It is caused by life's challenges in the family. Lightning speed family members feel as if lost in a maze without a map. Life will never be the same as it was.Cancer effects of family and how each are handling, changing the course of treatment. There is no right or wrong way to feel. Emotions vary from moment to moment. Sometimes strong emotions can not be expressed in words.

One of the most common ways to treat cancers is chemotherapy. Parents, for the first time išgirdusiems of chemotherapy, often alone the name itself causes fear and confusion. Most parents dutifully agrees to perform the treatment because they believe that it will be done in the child's best interest. But deep down inside we all want that this diagnosis is simply a mistake, a big mistake made by laboratory staff.

Nevertheless, as we think of chemotherapy, this treatment is toxic and painful. It always affects people in different ways. While science and medicine can obviously see the progress, however, chemotherapy patients avoid physical side effects and various risks. Certain side effects may have long-term effects, while others disappear after a short period of time. Side effects can significantly diminish the quality of life for our children. Some side effects are stronger than the cancer itself. Often a strong cancer therapy weakens the immune system, increases infections and life-threatening complications. If the good news is chemotherapy survival This is bad - a negative influence on the child's quality of life. Like most parents learn about their child's diagnosis, I met with standard chemotherapy, but at the time did not realize the full consequences of the risk.

Over time, I realized that the basic understanding of what the side effects can be expected after chemotherapy is necessary. Families may encounter problems outside the hospital, where ambulatory patients undergoing chemotherapy. Learning how to manage side effects means to control the patient's health. To be able to resist, it is recognized and understood. This perception may have a substantial impact on saving children's lives.

To survive cancer and treatments, chemotherapy alone is not enough. It is vitally important to improve the
body's tolerance to the treatment of the child, to form a positive attitude, take care to choose a proper diet and positive lifestyle. Parents need to be strong, creative and in good shape just because it is needed. Improved diet and lifestyle change positively impact cancer treatment and the healing process. Dealing with obstacles and overcome the disease, the child will greatly help him supančiųjų love, help and support.Today, I believe that the best health care system is one that looks at the patient as a whole, ie emotional, psychological, spiritual and social status of the individual, not just the physical illness. Chemotherapy is not easy to endure. Seeing children who went through the course of treatment and left the other side, often think that, despite everything, it was worth it for this procedure.
